George Michael Died On Christmas Day

Image
“You are far, I'm never gonna be your star, I'll pick up the pieces And mend my heart, Maybe I'll be strong enough, I don't know where to start, But I'll never find Peace of mind, While I listen to my heart…”                         " Kissing A Fool," George Michael        Last Christmas (this is not a cruel pun), music icon George Michael died, apparently,   of a heart attack.   He was 53.        A little personal anecdote about George: I don’t know if it’s part of an assignment or just a whim, but when she was still in school,   my younger sister brought my Faith album (George Michael’s debut solo album) to her school. Her teacher saw it, listened to it and exclaimed, “Uy, ang gaganda ng songs dito!” The teacher borrowed it, took it home and we never saw the album again. The last time my sister saw her teacher, she (the teacher) was happily humming “I Want Your Sex” to herself.        I can’t blame the teacher, Faith has

A Very Old Woman And A Turnstile That Would Not Open

"Disappointment haunted all my dreams..."                                               The Monkees, "I'm A Believer"        Yesterday, I had a dazed and surreal day.        I got out of the house at noon to go to an office complete with a red umbrella, a jacket and a peanut nougat bar in my pocket, the only thing lacking was the reason I   got out of the house— the documents I needed to deposit at the office. I went back to the house—I had already walked several blocks— grabbed the precious documents, braved the rain once again and boarded a passenger jeepney.        While inside the jeepney, the woman beside me was blatantly lying to someone she was talking to on her cell phone. “It’s a verrrry slow-moving traffic here, we’ve been stuck on the same spot for thirty minutes,” she claimed while the vehicle we were in was fairly moving “And oh, the rain was so heavy and (she mentioned a name) has fallen asleep beside me,” she sai

Green is The Colour of Pink Floyd's Early Years

On November 11, 2016, The Early Years 1965-1972,   Pink Floyd’s massive 27-disc box set that includes unreleased outtakes and demos, TV appearance, performance, interviews, three films, and 20 unreleased songs will be released. This is a news that will definitely send the fans jumping for joy—until we realize that it’s too pricey for its US$550 price tag.        Anyway, the box set includes this previously unreleased video for Green Is The Colour, a song — a love song to an island — written for the film More . And what can I say? The video is as lovely and as sweet as the song. Seeing Pink Floyd (with Waters in it) performing live is always a delight.   Green Is The Colour Heavy hung the canopy of blue Shade my eyes and I can see you White is the light that shines through the dress that you wore She lay in the shadow of the wave Hazy were the visions of her playing Sunlight on her eyes but moonshine made her cry every time Green is the color o

Horror Movies To Make Your Halloween A Little Creepier

Image
Today is Halloween.        Today is a scary day because ghosts, they say, are roaming the streets, entering the houses and are trying to see what’s up and what’s new with the living. Some will tap you on your shoulder, others will just sit quietly beside you and watch TV with you.        That's not scary enough ? You want this day to be a little scarier? Try watching (or rewatching) these great horror films that are really scary, horror films that will not only have you on the edge of your seat but will literally knock you off your chair:        1. The Conjuring (2013): Based on true events, two paranormal investigators (husband and wife), help a family that is being terrorized by a dark presence in their house.   Don’t watch this film alone and make sure the lights are on.        2. The Ring (2002) : A journalist investigates a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone who watches it.   Most jump scare tactics don’t work
