A Dog's First Birthday (Or Barkday)

Yesterday, April 20, 2022 was the first birthday (or barkday) of our dog, a beagle named Kylo. A dog's first year is equivalent to fifteen human years, so they say. We took him home from his original owner last June, 2021, when he was just almost two months old and was very small and fragile. But he’s grown to be a playful, sweet, friendly pet who loves to cuddle and kiss (lick actually) and play fetch and tug of war.  His foremost hobby is to look out the window and observe (and sometimes mock) humanity and their fragility, and yes, also to bark at cats and other dogs.

He continues to make our home a happier place.  But like other pets, he could be stubborn, too. He could also be scaredy, too and suspicious. He also has this habit of still mouthing you when you annoy him or he wants something that you’re not giving because you actually don’t understand him.

So, yesterday, I asked him his birthday wish.

“Arf! Arf! Arf! Woooff!” he barked and bayed enthusiastically.

And I’d translate it: “I hope VP Leni becomes president.

    Lol!

Actually, he just wants an unlimited supply of treats.

And no, he didn't like his cake.

I tasted it, and yep, it wasn't good.
