Valentine’s Day Is Near, So You’re Sort of Obliged To Think And Write About Love

Once, I saw a meme that says, “the truest sign that she secretly loves you is when she (unreasonably) blocks you (on social media).” And a lot of people agree, some even commenting that ignoring or not reading your message is the most intense and most loving kind of response. And these people show no signs that  they are joking.

It is something that will send you reeling and confused or exasperated.

Can you really express love with indifference or hate? I mean, you like someone, and you show it but all this someone does is ignore you and avoid you for years, blocking you on social media not only once or twice—and then, one day, it will turn out that this person actually likes you back. Is this thing really a thing? I mean, can it really happen? Someone running away from you when all they actually want to do is run to you and give you the tightest embrace?

Why would they run away in the first place? They are not sure of what you feel for them? Are they afraid that you’d eventually abandon them? But they won’t know it unless they dive into your arms. Are they hiding something that they think is never lovable.  But love means ignoring (unintentional) flaws. Haven’t they heard of the saying ‘love is blind?’ That the past, however dark or sordid, when you regret it, is irrelevant when it comes to love? Or is it the case of liking you but not really thinking that they can settle with you for life because they  think they deserve better? The reason why they are trying all their might to ignore you and drive you away.

The thing here is, I believe love is always best expressed with affection. It can only be expressed with affection.

And don’t let a meme say otherwise.
