The Amulet

A wise and experienced old man once lectured that if a woman wanted to attract and seduce a man, she would show him her cleavage. Yes, that enchanting, exciting, exhilarating, exhausting, enticing, exasperating little space (a line almost) between a woman’s breasts whenever they wear clothes that have low-cut neckline.

A cleavage, according to this sage of a man, is a talisman, an amulet, that women wear to charm the man they like. Open your social media, and the moment you find a woman that shows her cleavage in her photos is the moment that you find a woman that is trying to seduce and lead a man into her web.

Charles thought it was sexist, and a bit perverse, yes, and this old man could be wrong and a bit senile, but he is ninety-six years old and had fifteen wives, and his last, whenever she's in the mall, buys nothing but clothes with low-cut neckline.

And Charles was thinking about it because he just saw a pretty woman’s cleavage when he opened his Instagram account this morning, and he remembered what that wise man had preached, and he thought about the man to whom the magnificent view of that cleavage was intended. Lucky man, Charles mumbled, and then he browsed some more, looking at some magnificent photos (not-cleavage-related), and then he logged out and turned his computer off.

Then, he sat on the couch, with a bottle of beer in his hand, mulling over the fact that a girl had never showed her cleavage to him, implicitly or explicitly. He shook away the thought out of his head and turned the TV on to watch some movies. And there, in the first scenes of the movie he had chosen was a girl wearing a dress that displayed her ample cleavage while talking to a man.

He thought, that's enough cleavage for the day, and quickly turned the TV off.
