ANOTHER BRICK OUT OF THE WALL

" And if you want to stay for a little bit,
Rest your aching limbs for a little bit,
Before you, the night is beckoning,
And you know you can't delay,
You hear the night birds calling you,
But you can't touch the restless sky,
Close your aching eye... "

The Narrow Way by Pink Floyd

I really didn’t want to put this in here because I know it’d make me a little sad everytime I’d see this here...

Rick Wright, keyboardist for Pink Floyd, died in his London home last Monday, September 15, 2008, after a short battle with cancer. He was 65. Rick was always considered as the most unassuming member of the legendary rock band. He was very shy, down-to-earth and gentle, one who always avoided the media. He was so quiet that few people knew he had cancer until his demise. The media didn't know he was stricken with cancer. He wrote the tracks The Great Gig In The Sky ( a song abouth death) and Us And Them ( a song about war and how the small, ordinary people, including the low-ranked soldiers--not the rich, powerful ones, not the generals who initiate or control the war-- suffer terribly from it) for the classic album Dark Side Of The Moon, one of the highest selling albums of all time (more than 40 million copies sold and still counting) and considered by many as the greatest album in rock history.

Rest in peace, Mr. Wright.

US AND THEM

Us and Them
And after all we're only ordinary men
Me and you
God only knows it's not what we would choose to do
"Forward!" he cried from the rear and the front rank died
And the General sat, and the lines on the map moved from side to side
Black and Blue
And who knows which is which and who is who
Up and Down
And in the end it's only round and round and round
"Haven't you heard it's a battle of words?" the poster bearer cried
"Listen son," said the man with the gun
"There's room for you inside..."
Down and Out
It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about
With, without
And who'll deny it's what the fightings all about
"Out of the way, it's a busy day
And I've got things on my mind!"
For want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died

sguardoinascolto,

Thanks for visiting this site.

Rick will surely be missed.
If it's any consolation to his fans, they always have the assurance that his music, Pink Floyd's music, will never die.
