Too Much Rain

Image
Laugh when your eyes are burning Smile when your heart is filled with pain Sigh as you brush away your sorrow Make a vow that it’s not gonna happen again It’s not right In one life Too much rain You know the wheels keep turning Why do the tears run down your face? We used to hide away our feelings But for now, tell yourself it won’t happen again It’s not right In one life Too much rain It’s too much for anyone Too hard for anyone Who wants a happy and peaceful life? You gotta learn to laugh...                                                               “Too Much Rain,” Paul McCartney

Take A Chance On Me

Image
A tricycle blaring ABBA’s infectious “Take a Chance on Me” passed in front of our house this morning, it didn’t stop so I didn’t get to listen to the whole song, lol, but it was enough to remind me of one hilarious moment in The Office : Andy serenading Angela with the song and asking her to give him a chance to be her boyfriend.      They became engaged, it’s just sad that all the while, Angela’s still in love with Dwight, eventually cheating on Andy with Dwight.      At least, she took a chance on Andy. LOL. And yep, The Office has lots of weird people.

John And His Double Fantasy

So, I was listening to John Lennon’s Double Fantasy , and I was suddenly reminded of an incident during my high school days (which was awfully a long time ago, the telephone was just invented then, I think). We were in a male classmate/friend’s house, I can’t remember what we were doing but somebody told this classmate/friend of mine to play some music.   And he said they didn’t have music in the house, and he didn’t know any singers or bands— and they were upper middle class.     He asked for some recommendations on what music he should listen to, and I remember saying, The Beatles. I still didn’t know Pink Floyd then. Lol. He just nodded and we continued what we were doing.     After a month or two, I think, we went back to his house, and lo and behold, he proudly showed me his Beatles collection (all their albums) including some solo albums of John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. He told me he listened to them every ...

Avoidants

Image
Lately, whenever I scroll through my Facebook account, several topics from Threads (the Twitter/X-like platform of Facebook) would appear on my News Feed, and one of the most persistent topics I would see was about this unfamiliar (to me) term: avoidants .      Finally, this morning, I got curious and googled it—turns out it’s a personality disorder. Avoidant personality disorder (AVPD) is marked by poor self-esteem and an intense fear of rejection, including or especially when it comes to a romantic relationship. Some people with AVPD tend to choose partners they view as less demanding, or of lower status, or emotionally unavailable, individuals who aren’t likely to reject or criticize them. Meaning, rather than commit to a serious relationship to someone with whom they share a mutual love, they’d go for flings, or one-night stands, or married individuals. You know, the kinds of relationship that are easily escapable, or well, avoidable. ...
