Feeding The Dog
So there’s this dog trainer at YouTube who had been feeding his six-month old Belgian Malinois table food (adobo with rice, kare-kare with rice, Bicol express with rice, etc) for weeks. He even would add condiments (toyo, patis, etc. on it probably whenever the dog would complain that the food was kinda matabang) and only when his viewers started commenting that it wasn’t really ideal and utterly unhealthy to feed dogs table food, especially puppies, that he realized that it was wrong. He even asked a vet for a confirmation and he was told that yes, it was wrong to feed dogs table food, especially when you add patis or toyo in it. Some kind of dog trainer, huh.
And now, his problem is it’s proving to be difficult to make
the dog eat regular dog food again. The dog has become a food connoisseur and won’t eat unless it’s lechon manok
or salmon (one with lemon butter sauce), or, yes, kare-kare. Sometimes, it wants caviar as appetizer and
pizza or hamburger, not treats, as snacks. It’s no different with humans. Feed
me daily with steak or lechon or, yes, kare-kare, and I’d never go back to
eating pritong itlog with kamatis or corned beef or Ligo misua (classy-sounding
but it’s really only misua with sardines). Okay, pritong itlog with kamatis is a favorite so I'd probably not stop eating it. But I'd eat it with lobsters as side dish.
If your dog gets tired of eating ordinary dog food (the ones you buy at pet stores), you can occasionally feed it with boiled chicken (remove the bones) or chicken liver/heart (just make sure it has no flavoring), it’s much healthier than table food, like sinigang na baboy and fried chicken and yes, kare-kare.
And last thing I heard, the trainer’s dog had placed a wanted ad on a newspaper, looking for a new owner who can cook a mean adobo, and sisig and yes, kare-kare.
And I think Gordon Ramsay has responded to the ad.
I'm not aware if Mr. Ramsay can cook a mean kare-kare.
