Dysfunctional Characters
So, a few nights ago, I’ve finally finished watching The Office (9 seasons, 201
episodes). What can I say? It’s great and hilarious with weird, dysfunctional but
lovable characters that made my life a little bearable and livable. Lol. And I’d
definitely rewatch most of the episodes. Lists about someone’s favorite TV
shows always come up on my social media, so here’s my own list, my five
favorite TV shows so far:
Game of Thrones
24
The Office
Breaking Bad
Prison Break
Honorable
mentions: Better Call Saul, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Arrested Development, Family
Guy, and Fargo.
Moving on
to another subject, should artists be apolitical? I don’t know, maybe, yes, if
you’ve been apolitical all your life and throughout your career, shunning political
subjects. But if you dabble with subjects about injustices and its unfortunate victims,
about the cruelty of wars, about corruption, then people expect you to say
something about real-life injustices, corruption and cruelty of wars. If you
see a country committing genocide against another country, then you’re expected
to speak against it. If you see a powerful but corrupt president acting crazily,
whose demented actions could damage the world, then you’re expected to condemn
this president, and ask for his removal.
And lastly,
why would grown-up men, who all claim to be manly and masculine, bully and
humiliate publicly someone on the spectrum, someone who clearly can’t defend
themselves? Maybe they’re apolitical too, so instead of targeting corrupt
politicians and making fun of them, they went on to batter an innocent young
man.
