DAVID DIAZ, PINAKYAW ANG SUNTOK NI MANNY

While David Diaz was laying flat on his back, trying to crawl out of the dizzying limbo Manny Pacquiao put him in, I was waiting for Manny to sarcastically address the cheering crowd, not unlike Maximus of the film Gladiator, “Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained?” Then the crowd would shout lustily and crave for more blood and would ask Manny to finish David off by decapitating him.

Although not as violent as the encounters between the gladiators in ancient Rome, boxing is still a very violent sport. You will immediately realize it by just staring at Diaz’s mangled face. No wonder many people are clamoring to have the sport banned.

But whaddaheck, Filipinos love boxing. Filipinos love Manny. I’m in love with Manny, err, I love Manny. It’s Ara Mina I’m in love with. It’s great that he won again and in a very impressive manner at that.

He is no doubt one of the greatest boxers of all time. Aren’t we proud that he’s a Filipino?

“Thanks to the God,” as Manny loved to say.

And yes, I was entertained.

Indeed, the match was quite entertaining, but extremely brutal, no doubt.

It is also bang-on when you said that Filipinos love boxing and I will add SABONG as well. Both bloody, I must say. Them Mexican bastuds, they brought it to our country!

Our very own Pancho Villa wasn't only a very good boxer, he was also a showman. I mean, the guy's flamboyance was quite overwhelming, whe-he-he. Maybe Manny should use some of Villa's melodrama, dress with flair, and add some eccentricity to his image. He has very powerful punches, but I do believe he needs to add a little punch to his "physical packaging" so to speak.

Anyhow, Boxing, like Wrestling, are both teetering on showbiz and sports.

I believed this is the reason why God chosen him and gave all the blessing that he got not. Manny is truly a unique person, a masterpiece.

JM,

He he.

Mas showbiz ang wrestling. In fact, scripted na parang teleserye ang labanan nila.

Arman,
