A MOVIE FOR THE GUILTY

I watched the DVD of Atonement last night and got my heart broken. My sister rented it after seeing that James McAvoy was the lead actor; she became an instant fan after watching The Last King Of Scotland. Atonement, a love story set during the World War II, was an achingly sad but hauntingly beautiful movie that would leave you teary-eyed at the ending.

Superb direction, great acting, touching story (a wealthy 13-year old girl, an aspiring writer, ruined the relationship and the lives of her older sister and her boyfriend through her lies and spent her life trying to atone for that sin) and a wonderful musical score (which won an Oscar), this classy movie was nominated as best picture in this year's Oscars.

I agree with you, Ron. Atonement is indeed a wonderful film.

I don't know if you've seen another great one, THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD. This one is a must-see. Funny how its genre is western but the action is not the spectacle here. Rather, the most quiet moments were the most gripping.

Excellent cast and Brad Pitt's performance is quite far from Mark Lapid in SAGING NI PACING part III

A very touching movie with unexpected ending. Ganoon din ang The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

thecoolcanadian,

I wholeheartedly agreed with him.
