XTC Songs That Will Put You In Ecstasy

Open up your heart
Say the things you want to say
Maybe a delicate subject
But say it anyway...
                                   XTC, Say It

XTC has always been one of my happy pills when it comes to music. I always find myself playing their songs whenever I’m stressed and distressed. IMO, they could be compared to The Beatles when it comes to creating wondrously awesome pop music, power-pop songs with smart, witty lyrics, and catchy, smile-inducing, addictive melodies, hooks and arrangements.  And I love Andy Partridge's voice. They had a fantastic catalogue that anyone would be hard put to name their best songs, but my favorites are “The Wheel And The Maypole,” “Easter Theatre,” “Your Dictionary,” “Mayor Of Simpleton,” "Senses Working Overtime,” “Great Fire,” “Say It,” "All Of A Sudden (It's Too Late)," “The Loving,” “Making Plans For Nigel,” “Church Of Women,” “Wonderland,” “Dear God,” “The Disappointed,” “Books Are Burning,” and almost all the other songs from Nonsuch album. Sadly, they disbanded more than a decade ago. It’s just perplexing that they didn’t become as popular as The Beatles.
