Online Classes, Long Rides, Supplements And Fleeting Happiness

"We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
 Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey, teachers, leave them kids alone..."

Today is the start of online classes for public schools here in the Philippines  (online classes for private schools started last August), I am for academic freeze as resuming classes, IMO, through Internet would be troublesome, especially for poor students/families, aside from the fact that Internet here has never been stable and reliable. But this government hasn’t been known to really study things through, and education also offers business opportunities for some unscrupulous officials.

I’ve watched a few bike videos from YouTube, mostly long rides (Manila to Bicol, Manila to Baguio, etc) and mountain biking, and the view in the places they go to are often spectacular, it’s like touring the Philippines on a bike.  Maybe, it’d be fun and great for me to try it (the long rides, not the perilous mountain biking) but just thinking about it already makes my not-so-young knees and legs grumbling and complaining. Lol. I’m too lazy to even go bike for more than 20 kilometers now.

I regularly buy fish oil as one of my supplements, and my younger sister, upon learning it, bought me a bottle of it containing 330 pills, good for a year. The perks of having a loving sister.

A cousin‘s been giving us tons of chocolates (mostly Toblerone and Milka), they’re a bit expensive, yes, but she receives it for free because they’re about to expire (most of them few days away from expiration). She would get it from a relative/businessman who’s having a hard time dispatching them all because of the pandemic. But we’ve always known that chocolates don’t really expire quickly, that even weeks after the expiration date, they’re still good to eat. The only problem we’re seeing here is, of course, too much sugar is always bad. Sugar is the enemy, your health adviser will always tell you. But damn these chocolates for tasting really good! And yes, it has been scientifically proven that eating chocolates can indeed make you happy.

And I need, you need, everyone needs to be happy during these times, no matter how fleeting it is.
