Oats Asleep In The Fridge

I like eating oatmeal, it’s delicious, healthy and helps bring your cholesterol level down, but the cooking part can sometimes be a bother, so when I learned that you can eat oats without cooking it and thus save cooking gas, I instantly was all for it—I’m talking about overnight oats. It’s delicious and nutritious, some of its health benefits include bringing down your cholesterol level, lowering your blood pressure, protecting your heart, aiding in weight loss, strengthening your immune system, relieving constipation and enhancing your brain function. Neat, yes?

Its constant ingredients are rolled oats, chia seeds, yogurt, maple syrup or honey, and non-dairy milk.

     Recipe for one person:

     ½ cup rolled oats

     1 tbsp chia seeds

     ¼ cup yogurt

1 tbsp maple syrup or honey

     5 ounce non-dairy milk

You stir it until all the ingredients are mixed up. Then you cover it and let it stay in the fridge overnight (hence the name) and eat it at breakfast the following morning or make it your snack. It’s better if you eat it at breakfast as it will make you feel full and thus eat less come next meal time. The fun part is, you can top it with bits of your favorite fruits (fresh or dried) or nuts before eating it. It can stay for three days inside the fridge (without the fresh fruit or nuts) and will still be edible and delicious.

It’s okay to eat it every day.

I like eating healthy food because I like eating sinful food, too. They neutralize each other, or so I think. Next, I will talk about sisig and dinakdakan. Yum. Lol.
