Homelander and The Boys

The Boys is now on its 4th season—five episodes are now available to watch, five bloody, brutal, gruesome and highly entertaining episodes. The Boys is about lab-made superheroes who abuse their superpowers and wreak chaos and havoc on the people instead of protecting them and the vigilantes (composed of ordinary people) called The Boys who are determined to stop them.

Homelander, the strongest (he has powers similar to Superman’s), the baddest and the most terrifying superhero in the world, is now determined to control and rule the world—and The Boys are still trying their best to stop him. And I’ve just watched the most-talked about episode (so far) of the season, the fourth episode. Well, it’s a shocking episode, for sure. Its most talked-about scene: Homelander forced a scientist to masturbate in front of his co-workers and when he failed to make it hard, his dick was lasered and incinerated (with gusto by Homelander).

A lot of people find the scene offensive but if you’ve been watching The Boys from day one, you know that the show is populated with scenes that can only be described as shocking and gross. In Episode 1 of Season 3, there's this scene where another lab-made freak, a man who has the power to shrink ala-Ant-Man, shrunk into the size of a termite and entered the penis of his boyfriend through the meatus (the boyfriend’s quirk) but while he was inside, he sneezed and returned to his actual size—you can imagine what happens next. You can’t find scenes like that in other shows. Lol.

And there’s no denying how amazing the actor playing Homelander is—his portrayal of the screwy, deranged, immature, violent, approval-seeking, and love-seeking superhero or supervillain is simply perfection. Just him flashing a forced smile or clenching his jaw in disgust is enough to send chills down your spine, or rather, his enemies’ spine.
