Oats Asleep In The Fridge

Image
I like eating oatmeal, it’s delicious, healthy and helps bring your cholesterol level down, but the cooking part can sometimes be a bother, so when I learned that you can eat oats without cooking it and thus save cooking gas, I instantly was all for it—I’m talking about overnight oats. It’s delicious and nutritious, some of its health benefits include bringing down your cholesterol level, lowering your blood pressure, protecting your heart, aiding in weight loss, strengthening your immune system, relieving constipation and enhancing your brain function. Neat, yes?      Its constant ingredients are rolled oats, chia seeds, yogurt, maple syrup or honey, and non-dairy milk.      Recipe for one person:      ½ cup rolled oats      1 tbsp chia seeds      ¼ cup yogurt      1 tbsp maple syrup or honey      5 ounce non-dairy milk      You stir it until all the ingredients are mixed up. Then you cover it and let it stay in the fridge overnight (hence the name) and eat it

I'LL BE WATCHING YOU

Some (non-living) things, no matter how inanimate they look, it seems, are sentient and have feelings. Have you experienced a gadget or a laptop or an appliance malfunctioning for days or dying for a few hours, and then, when you’re discussing on when to purchase a replacement, this gadget or appliance suddenly starts functioning well? I'm sure you have. These things get jealous.      For the last few weeks, my watch had been malfunctioning—it would slow down, or stop every now and then, even with a new battery. When it stopped moving totally for a few days, I thought it was time to bring it to the (watch) doctor. I was told that its heart (its machine) had conked out and needed a transplant.      “How much?” was my first question.      “Around 4K” was the answer, and I instantly grimaced.      I said I’d think about it, but I was thinking just add a few thousands, and I already have a new watch, so I started searching for a nice watch online, but lo and behold, wh

Stories As A Gift

A sister (who bakes as a hobby) asked me If I wanted to give cookies and banana bread as Christmas gift. I told her I don’t give gifts that perish in a few days, like food and flowers. I like my gifts to last, like books, or jewelry. I’d rather give a keychain as a gift than chocolates.      But I am never imaginative when it comes to choosing a gift, I never knew what gifts would satisfy an acquaintance or a friend or a relative, so often, I’d end up buying something banal and boring. If I were moneyed, I’d prefer to give cash, so they could just buy what they want. But someone with 3K in his bank account is someone you wouldn’t call moneyed. Lol.      The irony is, I am someone who would be happy with a gift as cliché as a mug.      In fact, I just discovered this year that Instagram stories—yep, Instagram stories— are enough to make me quite happy.      Catch is, those stories should only come from one particular Instagram account.      Beautiful, lovely, happy, e
