AND HERE'S SOME BAD NEWS...

Seventeen years ago, Maureen Hultman, 16 years old, Roland John Chapman, 21 and Jussi Olavi Leino, 24, were returning home from a party when they were accosted and confronted by Claudio Teehankee Jr, 45. Teehankee, who was unknown to the three, demanded some identification. Leino took out his wallet and showed Teehankee an ID. Chapman approached them and asked Teehankee: “Why are you bothering us?”

Teehankee drew out his gun and shot Chapman in the chest. “Why did you shoot me?” Chapman asked Teehankee as he was crumpling to the ground. Chapman died on the spot. Teehankee then ordered the now hysterical Hultman and Leino to sit together on the sidewalk. While seated, unarmed and begging for mercy, the two were gunned down by Teehankee.

Hultman was killed while Leino survived and later identified Teehankee as the gunman. The nation was enraged with that senseless crime and demanded that the death penalty be restored. Teehankee was sentenced to one count of reclusion perpetua (ranging from 20-40 years) and two counts of reclusion temporal (12-20 years)

After serving almost 14 years, Teehankee, now 62, son and namesake of the late former Chief Justice Claudio Teehankee, is now a free man again after President Gloria Arroyo granted him an an executive clemency. He got out of National Bilibid Prison last Friday, October 3, 2008, shortly before midnight.

Isn’t this insane?

No amount of good behavior inside prison can compensate for what he did.

The Marcoses would sometimes pale in comparison. The Teehankees are reportedly close to the Arroyos. Sino ang susunod na palalayain? Si Mayor Antonio Sanchez? Sanchez, in my opinion, is one of the most terrifying criminals this country had ever known.

Look at Erap Estrada, resoundingly kicked in the ass by the people, convicted of plunder last year, sentenced to a life imprisonment. Where is he now? A free man, but of course, courtesy of our beloved president. He is now a statesman, a statesman, I repeat, for those who suffer from dyslexia, dishing out pieces of advice on how to better run the government. Last I heard, he was a speaker in a seminar about how important honesty among government officials is to a thriving government. He also is wont to say in interviews that if the opposition will not find a worthy presidentiable by 2010, he might be forced to run as president.

Probably with Jinggoy as his vice-president.

Ron:

When I first read your posted message, I became too emotional that despite the fact that I am a tuldok typist, I managed to type really fast and most of the words were truncated and the message became too garbled to be understood. This is the reason why I had to re-do my post.

A cold blooded killer like Teehankee should rot in jail for the rest of his meaningless low-life existence.

This is just another act of "WHAT ARE WE IN POWER FOR" arrogance of Gloria Arroyo. I remember quite well this incident and the whole nation was outraged by this senseless act. With this latest callousness-filled decision of the Philippine government, I don't know where the Philippines is heading for.

This news item makes my blood boil.

There, my man. I hope it is much clearer now with all the words included.

I'm still hyperventilating from shock, though. I just can't believe the killer is a free man once again. I just can't imagine what the parents and siblings of the victims are feeling right now.

This is such a disgraceful decision.

JM,

It's a disgraceful decision indeed.

And it's aggravated by the fact that he hasn't apologized publicly for it.

I think what made it even more heinous was the fact that there was NO REASON to kill those unfortunate young people. Just thinking how they were robbed of their right to live and enjoy life - makes me bleed inside.

I felt this way the first time I heard about it, and now, the pain is no different than before. It is like an internal injury inside me that won't seem to heal.

I believe in after life and I know this killer will finally pay for this unforgiveable act that he had committed.

Wala ngang malinaw na motibo 'yong killer. The victims didn't know him. And vice versa. That's what makes the crime completely revolting and Teehankee completely dangerous.

ron,
so the best thing to do is kill the 'sob' asap when we see him :) that would be one less dangerous man out there.

Bossing KC,

He he.

Well, at 62 years of age, huwag na siyang pakalat-kalat sa Green Hills.
Baka may makasalubong siya at... Pow! Pow!
Bulagta... Dugo... Utak... Karma.
