The Jim Paredes Debacle (And Why You Shouldn't Let Your Bird Be Recorded While It Sings)

     With a single mistake and stroke of irresponsibility, Jim Paredes’ legacy  as an icon of Filipino music (he was a part of APO Hiking Society) has been sideswiped. It will now always be shrouded and shadowed by a totally embarrassing video showing him pleasuring himself while allegedly chatting with someone via Internet. Allegedly because I haven’t watched the video and I have no plan of watching it, it is something you can’t unsee. But I have seen some blurred (thank goodness) screenshots. The mere mention of his name would now always be met with cruel chortles and disgust. That’s just how it is. . Apparently, the one he was talking to and showing off to clandestinely recorded it. And a lesson here has been learned: never be complacent in this era of ultra-modern technology. You have to fu*k, er, I mean, act, like someone is always watching you. You have to wank, er, chat, like you’re always being recorded. Take a break from watching porn and find time to google on how to check hidden cameras inside hotel/motel rooms and public restrooms. And never take your picture or a video of you or your beloved in compromising situations. Cell phones or computers are very vulnerable, the risk of it being leaked will always be high. Why put someone you love at risk of being humiliated and ruined?

     And for the life of me, I would never understand why someone (with no criminal intentions) would want to take a video or picture of their sexually intimate moments. A picture or a video will not preserve its preciousness. Why, are they gonna gather their grandkids around them years from now and show them these pics or video and tell them, “Look, this is me and your grandma, doing a sixty nine.” 

     Leave it to porn stars to do that recording thingy.

AND HERE'S SOME BAD NEWS...

Seventeen years ago, Maureen Hultman, 16 years old, Roland John Chapman, 21 and Jussi Olavi Leino, 24, were returning home from a party when they were accosted and confronted by Claudio Teehankee Jr, 45. Teehankee, who was unknown to the three, demanded some identification. Leino took out his wallet and showed Teehankee an ID. Chapman approached them and asked Teehankee: “Why are you bothering us?” Teehankee drew out his gun and shot Chapman in the chest. “Why did you shoot me?” Chapman asked Teehankee as he was crumpling to the ground. Chapman died on the spot. Teehankee then ordered the now hysterical Hultman and Leino to sit together on the sidewalk. While seated, unarmed and begging for mercy, the two were gunned down by Teehankee. Hultman was killed while Leino survived and later identified Teehankee as the gunman.
