Do Dreams Have Meaning and Purpose?

He was sitting at a table inside a restaurant, there's an untouched bottle of wine on the table, and there's a man, a stranger, sitting beside him. Then, he saw a familiar woman approaching their table. She, too, sat at the table, directly in front of the man beside him. She and the man began to talk while he tried to catch her eyes so he could greet her, but no, she wouldn't look nor even glance at him. She and the man kept talking—about what, he couldn't really hear.

Then, he remembered that the wine was a gift from her to him.

He again tried to catch her eyes, but still, she would look only at the man in front of her. It's then that he noticed that she looked sad and haggard—

Then he woke up—it was just a dream. It was only four in the morning.

The next  day, he remembered that dream and decided to look at her Facebook account to see how she was doing—they had not communicated for probably two months now. They were friends and he was fond of her—she’s the only human being in the world who would greet him at exactly twelve midnight on his birthday. Lol. But he couldn’t find her Facebook account—she probably deactivated it again.

But he’s hoping she’s okay. And no, he wouldn't try to have the dream interpreted, it's just a dream. Dreams, they say, don't have purpose and meaning, just random images.
