Random, Spontaneous, Pointless Thoughts
If not for
these corrupt and greedy politicians, Philippines would probably be a first
world country by now, at par with Japan or Singapore or some European
countries, like Italy or France.
I have an
unfinished novel on Wattpad, and this morning, I woke up thinking that I should
finish it, that it’s my obligation, heck, that it’s my duty to finish it for my
six followers. Alas, I have forgotten my password to the site and I couldn’t
log in. As I wrote this, I was still looking for my password…
I’ve been
wanting to grow a full beard, I mean, one that runs from ear to another ear,
wholly covering my jaw but alas, I can only have a mustache and a
goatee.
A few weeks
ago, I made a vow that I’d only send another message to this person if I’d see
a “seen” message on my last message. It’s clear that they don’t want any kind
of communication with me and won’t ever make the mistake of reading any of my messages openly, but
I still made that vow just for the sake of making a vow. Lol.
I’ve
finally watched the movie Mulholland Drive (2001), I remember buying a
(pirated) DVD of it many years ago because I read a review praising it for its
brilliance and ingenuity, but before I could watch it, I saw another review
attacking it, with the reviewer ending up confused and perplexed—he didn’t
understand the film, so I postponed watching it. But every now and then, I
would see a “greatest movies of all time” list, and Mulholland Drive would
always be in there, so I finally gathered some courage to watch it—and yes, I
didn’t understand it. Lol.
The first
Pink Floyd song I heard was “Hey You,”
and I remembered being blown away by it, I had goosebumps, and I thought I
would cry, best song I’ve heard in years, so I started looking for their
albums. Unfortunately, their albums, at that time, weren’t available locally,
so I had to scour all the underground record bars in Metro Manila. I only found
bootleg copies with only Xerox copy of the original covers, still I bought it. Most
of these stores sold pirated items, so they were always wary of new customers,
so at first, some wouldn’t sell to me. Luckily, I was young, looked innocent
and really good-looking (lol) so I couldn’t be a police informant. Anyway, the sound of these records/cassette tapes
was always shitty but still, I enjoyed them immensely. Later, I found record
bars that sold original PF CDs, and I bought all of their albums. And for many
years, I would only listen to their songs, and two centuries later, I still
enjoy their music.
One of my
favorite Tagalog songs ever is “Himig ng Pag-ibig” by Asin. I don’t get tired
listening to this song, the melody, lyrics, vocals and the vocal harmonies,
they’re just perfect, it’s undoubtedly one of the best Tagalog songs. Other classic
Tagalog songs I don’t get tired listening to, off the top of my head, are
“Manila” (Hotdog), “Ngayon at Kailanman” (Basil Valdez) and “Kung Sakali” (Pabs
Dadivas).
Sometimes,
I’d sing these songs on videoke and the videoke would always admonish me to try
a lot better.
