A Law Penalizing Ghosting

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, a bill that penalizes ghosting has been filed at the Lower House. Google describes ghosting as someone cutting off all kinds of communication with someone else without an explanation, but in the proposed bill, it is defined as someone leaving a partner in a dating (boyfriend-girlfriend) or live-in relationship without explanation, thus inflicting an emotional abuse.

Two persons regularly chatting or dating but aren’t in a relationship will not benefit from the bill.  Or those who think someone is their jowa without the supposed jowa knowing it.

Once the bill becomes a law, you wonder what “exciting” other laws they will create. Lol. Are they going to penalize those paasa (those who regularly chat you or text you good morning, good night or kumain ka na ba? and tell you you’re a cutie or heart react all your posts on Facebook or encourage you to chase them but has no plans of being in a relationship with you) or those who friendzone (those who reject you as a lover but has no qualms being your friend) or those who read your private (romantic) messages but don’t reply or those who don’t even read your (romantic) messages.

These may be simple or little transgressions but these transgressions break hearts and cruelly shove many people down into the abyss of utter loneliness and depression, and thus are forms of emotional abuse.

The ones who love being chased by those in the opposite sex they don’t have plans of being in relationship with are just as wicked as ghosters, IMO. But creating any laws that will penalize it, together with those who love to friendzone or those who don’t read your messages, will simply just be preposterous. You only need a little common sense to get out of these situations. It's just that common sense, when you're in love, usually disappears from your system.

But this bill on ghosting, it somehow makes (little) sense.
