Unreasonable Rage

Pandemic’s still out there, traffic’s still horrendous, commuting could be hell, prices are going up, and a suspected drug addict’s in power and calling the shots in the country, so it’s understandable that a lot of people are hotheaded and have short temper. But some rage are simply unreasonable, like this cyclist who just a few days ago shot a motorcycle dead because according to the cyclist, the motorcycle rider kept on veering towards him, pressing on him and cutting him off, so he chased him and shot him.

And now his life’s ruined as he was soon arrested—he destroyed his life for what? He didn’t even know the rider he shot dead, after that veering and cutting off incident, he probably wouldn’t encounter that rider again if he just let that incident pass, especially if he kept in mind that cyclists, whenever they are in a major road, would always be fair game to people riding a bigger (motor) vehicle, so they (the cyclists) are obliged to really be careful.

It’s an unreasonable rage, yes. But is there a reasonable rage? Well, reasonable rage is throwing your wife out the window of your tenth floor condo unit after you caught her in bed with another man. Reasonable rage is hurling a grenade in your neighbor’s house while he is in the middle of a thoroughly loud videoke session at two in the morning.

Okay, I don’t think those are examples of reasonable rage, my bad.  But it is of utmost necessity that you should always control your temper or keep it in check, and here’s how to do it:

1.            Count to ten if you’re angry before making any action or reaction; count to a hundred when you’re very angry.

2.            Exercise regularly. Physical activity reduces stress.

3.          Think about the people you love and who love you when you’re angry or regularly talk to them; stop trying to communicate with people who ignore you or abhor you.

4.           Find a new hobby/ have a pet.

5.           Take a break from things that make you upset. Facebook stresses you? Deactivate.

6.            Counting to a trillion doesn’t work? See a therapist.
